Purworejo District is a district in Central Java province. The capital on the city of Purworejo. The district borders the Wonosobo and Magelang District in the north, district Kulonprogo (Yogyakarta Province in the east), the Indian Ocean in the south, and the west Kebumen.

 Purworejo District was formed on 5 October 901 Masehi, it is shown in the inscription Kayu Ara Hiwang at Boro Wetan village, Banyuurip. Previously known as the Bagelen on prosperity time of the Mataram Kingdom. Currently Purworejo has 16 districts and 494 villages. This tourist attractions visited by tourists both local and long distance calls, especially when the holiday or weekend. So, in general purworejo has three potential toincrease income, from plantations, farms, and tourism.

In the plantation field, purworejo produce many crops, and the most famous is the spices, coconut, and tobacco. Purworejo become one of the biggest spices producer in the province of Central Java. Purworejo produces spices such as cardamom, ginger, turmeric, ginger and others. But, the most biggest spices produced in purworejo is cardamom. Spice is not only used by Purworejo’s peoples but also used by peoples from outside purworejo, for example from Cilacap. The use of spices is equally both by small industry like as herbal carrying and big industries such as factories. Around 75 medicinal plants in Central Java rely on raw materials from the district such as: Jaya Guna, Serbuk Sari, Serbuk Manjur, and Cap Tawon Sapi. The makers or herbalist carrying and big industries such as medicinal plants usually buy spices from the garden owners directly or from traditional markets that are in the area Purworejo.

Tobacco is also a plantation commodities that have high sales value in Purworejo. The benefits of tobacco, purworejo can increase local income as well as national income, so that in 2008 and 2009 Purworejo got Revenue Sharing Fund Tobacco Excise. The largest tobacco producer in Purworejo are in Pituruh Subdistrict. The peoples of Pituruh become tobacco’s farmer. Etawa breed goats and Etawa has many advantages, such as goat has a lot of meat because of the goats can reach the weight of 91 kilograms, and a day goats can produce as much as 3 liters of milk. But most of all, the goat is a superior goat so many people both local and long distance calls want to raising this goats, so the sales of etawa breed goats and Etawa of Purworejo out the area so high. Every year, thousands of goats sold out Purworejo, including East Java (Ponorogo, Kediri, Trenggalek), Sumatra (Bengkulu, Jambi), Riau and Kalimantan (Banjarmasin). Actually specialization for Etawa not only in the country, proven in 2005-2006 many Etawa exported to malaisia ​​to have been domesticated. European countries also have a high interest in these animals, but these goats for export directly to Europe still constrained many things so that Purworejo only export Etawa’s sperm.

Because of purworejo is a city that located on the south coast, so that Purworejo has many beaches and famous beaches include Ketawang beach, Keburuhan beach, and Jatimalang beach. The beaches are very crowded visited by tourists. But in addition to the tourist spots, the beaches of Purworejo also serve as iron sand mining. In a day, dozens of trucks can transport the iron sand from the beaches.

What's interesting about this is the natural cave formed naturally from rocks and supposedly when we explored the cave it will culminate in the Cilacap. In conclusion, Purworejo has great potential to increase income, both from the plantation, farming, and tourism, because the results of the field is large enough. Maybe Purworejo should  improve the quality in their respective fields such as increasing crops spices, tobacco, and coconut and Etawa so the stream from outside also the higher and income areas also increased.
